Day 1: EL-ROI – THE GOD THAT SEES ME

Theme: Encountering the God who intimately knows and sees us.

Opening Prayer:
“Lord, as I reflect on Your word today, open my heart to feel Your presence and to know that You see me in every moment. Help me to trust in Your loving gaze. Holy Spirit, guide me into deeper intimacy with You as I meditate on Your truth.”

Devotional Thought:
"God sees us in our hidden moments of struggle, joy, and doubt. Just as He saw Hagar in the wilderness and provided for her, He is fully aware of our needs and ready to meet us where we are. The Holy Spirit, our Comforter, invites us into a relationship where we are fully known and deeply loved."

Scripture:

  • Genesis 16:1-15 – Hagar, feeling abandoned and mistreated, encounters God in the wilderness. She calls Him “El-Roi,” meaning “the God who sees me.”
  • Genesis 21:1-19 – God provides for Hagar and Ishmael, showing that He hears their cries and sees their needs.
  • 2 Chronicles 16:9 – “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.”
  • Psalm 139 – David praises God’s omnipresence and omniscience, acknowledging that God knows him completely.
  • John 5:1-9 – Jesus heals a man who had been an invalid for 38 years, showing that God sees and acts on our behalf.

Activity:
Take a quiet moment outdoors or near a window. Breathe deeply, imagining God’s presence surrounding you. As you breathe in, say silently, “God sees me.” As you exhale, say, “I trust in His love.” Spend a few moments acknowledging the presence of the Holy Spirit with you.

Reflection Prompt:

  1. How does knowing that God sees every aspect of your life increase your trust in Him?
  2. How can this truth change your perspective during difficult moments?
  3. In what ways do you feel the Holy Spirit comforting you today?

Guided Visualization:
Close your eyes and picture God’s gaze upon you—gentle, steady, and filled with love. Hear His reassuring words: “I see you, I know you, and I care for you.” Feel the warmth of Jesus walking beside you and the Holy Spirit embracing you. Sense the comfort of being fully known and fully loved.

Journal Prompt:

  • Write about a moment in your life when you felt unseen or forgotten. How does reflecting on God as El-Roi encourage you?

Declaration:
“God, You are El-Roi, the One who sees me. I trust in Your loving gaze upon my life, knowing You care for me deeply. Holy Spirit, fill me with peace as I walk in this truth.”

Worship Suggestion:

  • Listen to "Who You Say I Am" by Hillsong Worship. Reflect on the lyrics as a reminder of your identity in Christ and God’s constant awareness of you.

Closing Prayer:
“Thank You, Lord, for seeing me, knowing me, and loving me completely. Help me to carry this truth with me throughout the day. Holy Spirit, draw me closer to You and let me feel Your presence in every moment. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Psalm 23 speaks of God’s provision and abundance, and Romans 8 reminds us that when we live by the Spirit, we walk in the fullness of life. Jesus invites us to live a life of overflow, where His blessings are not only for us but flow through us to others."
